KeKe Palmer Stars in Usher’s New “Boyfriend” Video

The enduring message of being cautious about leaving your partner around Usher still holds true, as he and Keke

The enduring message of being cautious about leaving your partner around Usher still holds true, as he and Keke Palmer persist in adding fuel to the fire. Embracing their humorously infamous “scandal,” the duo has unveiled their upcoming single, titled “Boyfriend.”

Towards the conclusion of the brief 15-second preview, Usher croons, “Someone mentioned that your boyfriend is searching for me.” The teaser maintains an air of intrigue, leaving both fans and Darius Jackson, the father of Palmer’s child, in anticipation until the music video premieres on Wednesday (August 16), before any hasty assumptions are made.

This fresh single comes on the heels of Usher’s earlier release, “Good Good,” which featured Summer Walker and 21 Savage.

Palmer and Usher captured headlines back in July when the attire she wore during his Las Vegas residency triggered a Twitter storm from Jackson. The two shared a dance to the tune of “There Goes My Baby,” and while Jackson didn’t take issue with the serenade itself, he expressed in a now-deleted tweet, “It’s the outfit though… you’re a mother.”

He went on to clarify, “We exist in an era where a family man doesn’t desire the mother of his children to display provocative attire just to please others, and then he’s criticized as a jealous person. This pertains to my family and my principles. I make my point.”

Usher addressed the matter just last week, stating to PEOPLE, “I believe everyone’s interpretation or perception of what occurred there ultimately points to us having a great time in Las Vegas. That’s what I hope emerged from it. Whether it was a discussion about our enjoyment before an audience or a dialogue about that particular song.”

The father of four continued, “Every night, I ponder how the world will react to this moment that I’ll share with whomever I choose to sing to. However, it was a light-hearted moment, and it was enjoyable to spark conversations, and we’re keeping it lighthearted. I don’t foresee any negativity stemming from our time in Las Vegas.”

Fans are abuzz over the “Boyfriend” sneak peek, with one Twitter user expressing, “Usher and Keke are embracing their inner villains with this move. Her boyfriend was uncomfortable about her being serenaded by Usher, and faced backlash on social media, only for her to now feature in Usher’s song named ‘Boyfriend.’ His pride must be taking a hit.”
